75% of breweries see the viability of the project in its recovery process
We present the Technical Report on the “State of Craft Beer in the Basque Country in 2020”, for the third consecutive year EGE (Euskal Garagardo Elkartea – Basque Beer) promotes this report with the attention of the Vice-Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Policy of Basque Government and directed by the team of the Barcelona Beer Festival.
We consider that this report is one of the most important so far, because to the deep and serious health situation that has caused so much pain and loss, is added the fact that economic activity has also suffered a severe blow with a serious impact. This report measures the impact of the pandemic on production, turnover, and job creation, and at the same time marks the future trends of an emerging sector that was on a great path from the defense of quality and proximity.

- 1,1% production quota
- 6% less of production
- 2 breweries have closed
- Increase in use of local hops and malt
- 4% more of exports
- 32% more of direct sales
- 7,6% more of online sales
- Less of 35% of the companies do touristic activities
- 92 job-creation
- 18% less workstations
